Victoria Victoria 's Airport, YYJ

Victoria International Airport

Links

Victoria International Airport, or "YYJ" (its international aeronautical designation) was BCs first licensed airport. The terminal is 13 kilometres north of the downtown, in the community of North Saanich, close to Sidney. YYJ welcomes 880,000 passengers to Victoria each year.

From the airport, the best way into town is either by taxi (average cost $40-45), shuttle bus ($13 one-way), or by rent-a-car (varies). If you are planning to stay in Victoria itself, everything is close together and a short walk from the core. If you want to see other parts of Vancouver Island, or visit the various beaches and the Gulf Islands, then a car might be a good idea.

Airport parking costs $2 for short term parking (up to 2 hours), or $1 per hour with a $15 maximium in the daily lot (which you can pay by cash or credit card on exit). There is also a long term lot where the cost is $15 per day for first 4 days and $7 per day thereafter.

Victoria Aiport Interior For those on a budget, you can (almost) take public transit: Catch the Airport Shuttle from the Airport to BC Transit's McTavish Park and Ride for $2.00. From there you can catch the "70" bus, which will take you downtown.
