Victoria Intown Attractions

Horse-drawn carriage rides of Victoria depart from beside the BC Legislature

There is lots to see and do around Victoria in the city. Take a tour of the city's shoreline, either from land or by boat. You can visit a museums, lots of parks and waterfront greenspace, and activities and sports to keep anybody busy (and happy). We even have a page that has tips on hundreds of things to do with kids.

Nearby Vancouver Island Towns & Attractions

Shoreline along Beach Drive, in Oak Bay

Victoria is a semi-urban region with a number of other municipalities and communities. To the east of downtown is the community of Oak Bay, to the west, across the Inner Harbour is Esquimalt. A little further west are View Royal, Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, and finally the pretty waterfront community of Sooke. You can also head up the Saanich Peninsula, through Saanich, past Elk Lake to Central Saanich, the community of Brentwookd Bay (home to the famous Butchart Gardens), and further north to North Saanich and Sidney.

Victoria Accommodation

Fairmont Empress Hotel

There are many accommodation options in the area, from first class hotels, to motels, beds & breakfast, long-term accommodation, wilderness lodges and camping.

Away: Travelling Out of Town

We even have lots of tips for getting away, including other countries' Online Travel Offices, links to travel guidebooks' web sites. We even have links to sites that can help you plan a honeymoon, eloped wedding, or romantic getaway. To round things out we have information about Canada & US Customs, a listing of Canadian embassies and consulates around the world, and an overview of our airport(s) and links to airports around the world (so you can check what to do during connections between flights)

Sustainable Travel & Eco-Tourism

Going Green: Eco-friendly content!

We recogize that travel inherently uses a lot of energy and a lot of resources, since it involves moving us (and our luggage) large distances around the world. Here are a number of suggestions for reducing our impact as well as our "carbon footprint".

Travel Feature

For those travelling between Canada & the US, those entering (or re-entering) the U.S.A. BY AIR are required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document. As of January 31, 2008, these rules include those entering the USA BY LAND OR SEA.
