Metchosin has a public school, and older students go to Dunsmuir High in nearby Colwood. The community is home to the Lester B Pearson College of the Pacific, though it is mostly attracting an international, not local, audience. The College has several locally-focused programs in the summers.
There are small shopping plazas in William Head and on Happy Valley Road. Most local residents head into Langford or Colwood for serious shopping
The community is home to two golf courses, Olympic View and Matheson, both highly rated. There are several park areas, including Matheson Provincial, Devonian Regional, Witty’s Lagoon Regional and Albert head Lagoon Regional. These parks combine coastal terrain with rugged deep forest. There are also a couple of nice ocean beaches, at Weir Beach, Witty’s Lagoon and Albert Head.
